Degenerative Diseases

A Quick Reference Guide To Skin Diseases

Infantile Eczema

You can almost tell when a baby is breast fed. When a baby is given cow’s milk, the skin is the first thing which objects. Infantile eczema, those little flaky bits of peel on the baby’s skin, shows us that something is wrong, and we need to make an adjustment. This is a very serious problem because I have adult patients who had eczema as a baby and still have this problem.

The finest remedy that God gives us for this is a herbal remedy, the little wild three-coloured pansy, viola tricolor, and it has a characteristic signature to tell us why He created it. It has a beautiful skin. The little leaf is almost like velvet. I have treated hundreds of babies with infantile eczema with that insignificant three-coloured pansy and all infantile eczemas react very well to it. This fresh herb preparation is available as Violaforce from Bioforce. It is also the finest remedy for many different types of skin problems and skin rashes in the young and old.

Cell renewal is necessary especially with persistent skin problems such as eczema. Any food allergy problem is capable of prolonging the condition. If there is an allergy problem, anything from the pig such as pork, sausages, bacon or ham, should be avoided as well as white sugar, white flour, spices, citrus fruits, alcohol and chocolate. An almost immediate improvement will be seen when dairy products are omitted from the diet as these tend to aggravate eczema.

Some eczema sufferers react almost immediately after eating eggs, and eggs may need to be totally eliminated. Most eczema sufferers are deficient in essential fatty acids. and in such instances, it is sensible to use Oil of Evening Primrose, as it is a rich source of essential fatty acids. I was the very first practitioner in Great Britain to introduce Evening Primrose, and it is wonderful for all skin problems. I have seen tremendous results with it. It is also helpful as it aids in correcting hormonal balance.

Acne Vulgaris And Acne Rosacea

Teenagers frequently have problems with acne but often are not willing to give up the foods which aggravate the condition, even though they are easy to avoid. Anything from the pig as mentioned previously – pork, ham, sausages, bacon – these are all common denominators of acne. In addition, it is very important that you give up white sugar, white flour, citrus fruits (which unfortunately aggravate it), spices, alcohol and coffee. In the majority of cases, it is helpful to refrain also from eating dairy products, nuts, chocolate, bananas, tomatoes, onions.

Vegetable juices are excellent, especially carrot or beet juice. Put stinging nettle in your salads or even drink some of the stinging nettle juice. The herbs to use with a persistent acne are Echinaforce (echinacea) and viola tricolor. For unusually persistent conditions I also prescribe Petasan (which contains butterbur) because this remedy promotes quick healing. Oil of Evening Primrose and vitamins A and D will help to promote the healing of acne conditions.

Skin Infections

Dermatologists will usually prescribe antibiotics for skin problems. Antibiotic means “anti-life”. You take it to kill the infection, but you really don’t know how it also kills you. All skin infections are improved by a wonderful antibiotic which God created in nature, echinacea. Dr. Vogel’s remedy Echinaforce is most helpful. Take 15 drops in a little water 3 times a day. God created this natural remedy, a wonderful flower, and gave it a signature, which is a hint to us of its power. If you take it and put it in a vase and forget to give it water, you’ll see how long it will last without water because it has an immune system which protects it.

I discovered it many years ago when I was working with Albert Schweitzer. He told me that if you want a real antibiotic, look at what God supplies in nature. He treated his patients with skin diseases only with this plant. It is a wonderful antibiotic, not only for skin problems, but for other conditions as well such as abscesses and infections. Research in Munich, Germany, has shown that echinacea is a more potent antibiotic than pharmaceutical antibiotics. I also frequently advise the use of beta carotene as I have found that this will improve any skin conditions, and skin infections in particular.

Fungal Conditions

Fungal conditions can be very serious and many are created when there are deficiencies in our chemical balance. They will improve when we take the necessary minerals and trace elements. You have to determine with the help of your naturopathic physician whether you have as much zinc and calcium as you need. I am not necessarily an advocate of taking vitamin and mineral supplements, because if your daily diet is good, you will get plenty of vitamins out of that.

The main problem occurs when you get food which is grown in the wrong soil and when that food is full of pesticides and herbicides. That food will be deficient in vitamins, minerals and trace elements and you will have to take supplements. If you try to eat food grown organically, you will be far better off. There is a tremendous treasure of herbs which are helpful for fungal conditions. A herb called hipnettel, which was used to treat fungal conditions by the Javaras, an Indian tribe, and it is a wonderful herb for these fungal conditions which can be very nasty. I take the pure hipnettel extract and put it between the nails where this fungal condition sometimes occurs.

Paracress is a fresh herbal preparation which can be used externally for fungal conditions and infections. Dab paracress on the affected areas 2 or 3 times a day. I also recommend the use of Petasan and Molkosan from Bioforce for fungal conditions. For foot fungal infections, paracress is also a very good remedy to take . Take ten drops of the mother tincture three times a day. Also dab the foot with Molkosan. It is such a potent remedy it will even take warts away. Molkosan is an excellent remedy for all fungal infections. Molkosan is concentrated whey of milk, a left-over product from making cheese. This is an excellent remedy for any skin condition, even warts or verrucae. Molkosan is also very helpful in keeping the skin clear and restoring the body’s chemical balance.

An abscess is often an accumulation of toxic material which the lymphatic system is not able to cope with and it is a sure sign that the patient has a high level of toxicity. Sometimes I see abscesses which are almost incurable. But we can very often overcome these terrible abscess problems by following the diet I prescribe (which is not a difficult one) and correcting the deficiencies that we ourselves have created. Petasitis and echinacea are both helpful in these cases.

Yeast Infections

Are yeast infections self-induced? Candida has grown in number every year. Why is there so much of it? Has it anything to do with food? There are some foods which when taken cause Candida to progress. Avoid sugar, mushrooms, wine, yeast products (bread, cakes and so on), chocolate, caffeine, cheese, and alcohol and fermented foods and drinks. We all have Candida Albicans – you have it, and I have it – but it doesn’t need to develop. As long as we can keep it in its place, it’s all right, but the wrong kinds of food may make it active.

Candida Albicans can cause a lot of skin troubles and abscesses. It can cause many cases of thrush. A patient of mine told me the other day: “I will do anything to get rid of this Candida, but don’t ask me to give up chocolate because I’m a chocoholic”. How can I treat her? Sugar is the main common denominator of Candida. There are some wonderful remedies for treating Candida very effectively which are given to us by nature almost with a signature, such as Devil’s Claw.

Many years ago, Dr. Vogel and I researched Devil’s Claw. Dr. Vogel told me that Devil’s Claw extract in a mother tincture is a very powerful remedy for any allergy problem and one of the best remedies to control Candida. I have treated very many Candida patients with it. Molkosan and Caprylic acid, a derivative of coconut oil, have also been used successfully.

Thrush is another problem which is probably caused by an active Candida. It can cause a lot of skin irritations, and again, you have to watch your diet carefully. One of the finest remedies to use is Molkosan. You can get it at the health food stores. Take a teaspoonful three times a day. It is a wonderful thing. The first thing to do is to avoid cheese, wine, mushrooms, yeast products, coffee, tea and sugar, and take 400 units of vitamin E twice a day.

Vitiligo, another skin problem, is simply a problem of a lack of vitamins, minerals and trace elements. If you prescribe the right supplements, I have seen even serious problems with vitiligo disappear. We have to watch our daily diet, and get the vitamins, minerals and trace elements we may lack. If you have that problem, read my book on Skin Disease. I’m not here to sell my books, but all the royalties of my books go to the Third World.

People have immense problems these days with psoriasis, and in the hospital where I work people are always telling me that you can’t cure psoriasis. I don’t believe that at all. I have had many good cases of cured psoriasis. A good acid-alkaline balance is important in the diet. The problems of psoriasis, rheumatism, arthritis, duodenal ulcers, and peptic ulcers are all born in an overly acidic system.

A diet to establish a proper acid-alkaline balance in the body is essential (refer to acid-alkaline balance in the previous newsletter by Jan de Vries and his book Nature’s Gift of Food). Many of my patients tell me their skin cleared up on steroid treatments, or tar treatment. Yes it will clear up, but your problem will still go on if you don’t treat it from the inside.

Psoriasis is ten times worse on the inside than it is on the outside. I tell my patients to stick to this diet even though their problems will grow worse for a while. But when the problems grow worse, you are bringing it out of your system. Once you get it out, once the inside is cleared up, the outside clears up much better. But again, it is very difficult for people to give up certain foods. If you have a problem, you don’t have to live with it. Get rid of your problem and put every effort into getting rid of it. Urticalcin is a homeopathic remedy containing stinging nettle and will help to improve psoriasis. Dabbing the affected parts with Molkosan will ease the inflammation.

There are a lot of people who have shingles. And shingles as they often say, is an incurable problem. If you have shingles, take a little advice on your diet and take some homeopathic remedies. Dab your shingles with the extract of fresh leeks. It is a wonderful thing to get the juice from simple leeks and dab this on these very painful shingle areas, and you will see how much it helps. If you have a chronic case of shingles, I give electroacupuncture or homeopuncture, which is another wonderful treatment and a tremendous help.

Always remember that your skin is an outward sign of how healthy you are on the inside. Every one of these typical skin diseases will give you an indication of what could be wrong inside. If we ignore the message, then we may have the problem for life.
